🥧 Old-Fashioned Apple Pie Recipe
Ingredients
1 (14.1 oz) package pastry for a double-crust 9-inch pie
7 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples (Granny Smith or a mix of firm apples)
1 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt
⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons butter
Directions
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, toss apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg until well coated.
Assemble the pie: Line a 9-inch pie dish with one pastry crust. Fill with apple mixture and dot with butter.
Add top crust: Cover with second pastry, trim excess dough, and crimp edges to seal. Cut small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
Bake: Place pie on the center rack and bake for 40–45 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
Cool & serve: Let pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing to allow the filling to set. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the perfect treat! 🍨
